This is public health program or human services work in policy analysis, development, implementation and management. Employees in this class identify priority policies, draft policies, and develops and manage a strategic plan for adoption of policies. Employees in the Public Health specialty work in food policy analysis to reduce the prevalence of obesity in Philadelphia by increasing access to healthy and affordable food and reducing access to unhealthy food. The position in the Health Specialty serves as a representative for the Department of Public Health on food policy issues and includes the responsibility for supervision of one Food Policy Analyst. Employees in the Human Services specialty work in child welfare and juvenile justice policy analysis to support the goals of the Department of Human Services by improving outcomes for children, youth, and families. Significant to the work is contact with the Public Policy Attorney, City Solicitors of the Child Welfare Unit and departmental managers to select and implement policy changes that closely align with core strategies. Work is performed under the direction of an administrative superior.
